700 rooms in "Norway's largest hotel"

Aker Solutions at Stord is Norway's largest offshore shipyard, with a number of major ongoing and upcoming developments for traditional oil and gas operations and renewable energy. In addition to around 1,700 of its own employees, the yard is dependent on the efforts of a host of guest workers from Norway and abroad.

To accommodate all these rotational workers, the yard operates Norway's largest "hotel". At the beginning of 2024, the hotel had a total capacity of more than 2,100 beds - spread over three camp areas. Eldøyane camp is one of these, provided by Stord Innkvartering.

The camp is located right at the water's edge, just a few hundred meters walk from the shipyard gate. It consists of 700 rooms, divided into modern two- and three-storey residential rigs. Residents also benefit from a separate canteen serving breakfast and dinner.
